Annapolis... City of Flowers

flowers in downtown AnnapolisIn 1999, ABA proposed decorating the downtown shopping district with hanging baskets of colorful flowers. The city government agreed to allow a limited number of baskets along Main Street. City residents and visitors loved this improvement to the city's streetscape, and the beautiful baskets, designed and maintained by Homestead Gardens, were instantly popular.

The following year more baskets and standing planters were added and the program expanded to the streets around the city's distinctive circles, reaching West Street to eventually include Westgate Circle.

ABA, in partnership with the City of Annapolis, manages and pays for all the hanging flower baskets and pots throughout downtown Annapolis during the Spring and Summer—from May to October. We also coordinate and pay for the downtown holiday decorations in December.
